Most people will opt to play this on snes9x because of its low system resources requirement.
However, you may run into scenarios where audio-related tech (yoshi races, RNG manips) are not working the same way you would expect them to work on console.
Higan requires hefty system resources but offers much higher fidelity audio synchronization.
You can transfer your save file to this emulator for anything audio related.
Here is something you can do:
- Make a backup of your <SMRPG rom name>.srm file that exists in snes9x's Saves folder
- Download Higan: http://www.mediafire.com/file/gj2qe9raf7uyxpr/higan_v093-64bit.zip/file
- Download ipl.rom: https://github.com/byuu/higan/blob/master/higan/System/Super Famicom/ipl.rom
- Place the ipl.rom file inside the Higan folder's Super Famicom subfolder
- Run higan-balanced, set Video β Scale & Aspect Correction, Shader β None, and check Synchronize Audio
- Open Task Manager and set Higan's priority to high
- Go to Library β Import Game and boot up your SMRPG rom to the file select screen. Close Higan
- On your computer, navigate to this folder: C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Emulation\Super Famicom\<Your SMRPG ROM name, but as a folder>
- Delete "save.ram" from this folder.
- Copy your <SMRPG rom name>.srm file into this folder, and rename it "save.ramβ (.ram is the file extension. make sure it is not "save.ram.srm")
- Run Higan, load your rom, and do the audio related thing.
- To go back to snes9x, copy "save.ram" back into snes9x's Saves folder
- Rename save.ram to <SMRPG rom name>.srm (intended to replace your old srm, but keep a backup just in case) (make sure you do not name it "<SMRPG rom name>.srm.ram")
- Keep playing on snes9x
