If you’re reading this, it probably means you’re interested in helping with the completion of the SMRPG Remake Action Commands repository (called “Timed Hits” in this doc)! (https://pidgezero.one/remake_timings/index.html)

This project is considered complete, however, there is still a chance that we might have missed one or two Action Commands that need to be included. If you’ve identified one, read on to learn what to do next.

Why even do this when the game tells you when to do a timed hit?

The timed hit indicator only lasts for a short while. After you do it correctly enough times, it stops giving you an indicator. You need to mess it up a whole lot after that to get the indicator back. For moves like Thunderbolt which have become much harder to time perfectly than in the original game, this can be a problem!

If you’ve forgotten a timed hit, you can come to the timed hits page to get a refresher on when it is, and what part of the animation you should look out for to try and do it perfectly when the game is no longer showing you an indicator.

This will help speedrunners, challenge runners, and even casual SMRPG enthusiasts understand the science of timed hits better.

Hardware you will need

You will need a 60 FPS HDMI capture card for this.

Video recordings taken directly on the Switch with its screenshot button unfortunately have too much artifacting to be used for this.

Software you will need

Install all of the following before beginning if you don’t already have them:

Setting up OBS to record video

In your OBS scene, you’ll need to be capturing your game feed by adding a new Source. You can do this in the Sources panel that’s right in your OBS dashboard.

Depending on your capture card setup, you will need to either do a window or screen capture, or a video device capture. This will depend entirely on your specific capture card / emulator setup.
